Domaine Clos de la Chapelle expanded in a major way with the 2013 vintage, adding over half a dozen new vineyards sites. Our focus remains on top sites in the Cote de Beaune, and one of our most exciting additions was a parcel of the Volnay 1er Cru know as Taillepieds.
Within the 1er Cru classification of each village, there is an unspoken hierarchy of quality, and Taillepieds vies for top honors in Volnay. It is on the midpoint of a hillside, with scant topsoil over a swirl of clay and limestone, with the latter giving the wines of Taillepieds their noted mineral streak. We own just under half a hectare (.47, to be exact) of vines averaging 65 years of age. Our parcel is nestled between the holdings of Domaine de Montille and the Marquis d’Angerville.
With the 2013 vintage, we produced just 900 bottles from this gem of a vineyard. If you want to get your hands on one, sign up for our wine club today!
